Peer Review

All manuscripts submitted to Journal of Social and Behavioral Nusantara will undergo a structured peer review process to ensure the quality, originality, and relevance of the submitted work.

  1. Initial Screening

After submission, each manuscript is first screened by the editorial team to ensure:

  • Relevance to the journal’s scope (community engagement and empowerment).
  • Compliance with submission and formatting guidelines.
  • Sufficient language quality (clarity and readability).
  • Plagiarism check (similarity index must be under 25%).

Manuscripts that do not meet the basic criteria will be returned to authors for correction before entering the review stage.

  1. Peer Review Process
  • JJournal of Social and Behavioral Nusantara implements a single-blind peer review, where reviewers know the identity of authors, but authors do not know the identity of reviewers.
  • Each manuscript is reviewed by at least one independent reviewer with expertise relevant to the manuscript’s topic.
  • In certain cases, the editorial board may assign two reviewers to ensure balanced evaluation.
  • The standard time for review is approximately 2–4 weeks.
  1. Review Criteria

Reviewers assess the manuscript based on:

  • Originality and contribution to the field of community service
  • Methodology and implementation strategy
  • Clarity of results and community impact
  • Depth of discussion and critical reflection
  • Appropriateness of references and citations
  • Overall presentation, formatting, and structure
  1. Decision and Revision

Based on the reviewer’s recommendation, the editorial board may issue one of the following decisions:

  • Accept without revision
  • Accept with minor revisions
  • Revisions required (major)
  • Reject

Authors will be given time (usually 1–2 weeks) to revise the manuscript and are expected to submit a revision note that clearly explains how reviewer comments were addressed.

  1. Final Decision and Publication
  • Once the revised manuscript is received, the editorial team may conduct a final review or consult the original reviewer again (for major revisions).
  • The final decision is made by the Editor-in-Chief or delegated editors.
  • Accepted articles will proceed to copyediting and layout, and then be scheduled for publication.
  1. Ethical Compliance

The journal adheres to ethical publishing practices as outlined by COPE (Committee on Publication Ethics).
Reviewers are expected to:

  • Maintain confidentiality
  • Declare conflicts of interest
  • Provide objective and constructive feedback
